Focusing on the Wins

Focusing on the Wins

Hi all! I hope you are all having a great day. This is week two of my experiment to start the day with smiles, dog cuddles and kind words. Last week was awesome, and I thought I'd keep going to see if my mood continues to stay high. It's still working. It's such a simple act.

This reminding me of a time many years ago, when my husband and I were knee deep in fitness, more specifically Body-for-LIFE (BFL). In addition to scheduling our workouts and meal preps, we used also created daily/weekly "Win Lists". The purpose of this list was to create a small list, usually of no more than 5 items, that we would like to get done that day/week (i.e., drink 8 glasses of water, get in 10K steps, or read a chapter of my favorite book, etc.). The idea was to create this list each morning/week, and as you accomplish a task, you mark it "W!", or win. The goal was progress, not perfection. It wasn't about the things you couldn't get done, it was about celebrating the things you did accomplish. It was nothing big, just a small step towards our greater goals. I think I want to try that again, creating a daily win list of 3-5 items that I'd like to accomplish each day.

I know that the person I was when doing BFL many years ago, is not the same as the person I am today, and that's okay. My ultimate goal is to be the best version of myself today, and that means not always comparing myself to who I was 20 years ago (not always easy). I am on a journey, and this blog is proof that the journey is not easy ... but, the destination will be worth it.

Peace to all!
