Last week I had a great meeting with my new clients; I've been working on a re-design of their web site, sending them links to the staging area for feedback.
They sent the link to their parent company in the UK who replied that they really love the site. Also stating that it looks more Corporate then their previous version, and so far they like where the site is going.
I was a bit nervous about the meeting because they scheduled it right after I sent them my first invoice... my services are not cheap and this company opted to pay me by the hour instead of by quote (I firmly believe that when it comes to web and print design, you do get what you pay for). I thought they would want to scale the hours down a bit, but instead, they gave me more work. The National Sales Manager/General Manager absolutely loves the work and has already started sending me a list of long term goals for their site as well as information for designing some of their product brochures.
There are days when it's tough working from home, especially when you're waiting for weeks for a client to send you files they'd promised you days ago, which put your work time-table off course; or you're waiting for payment and the cupboards are bare. However, if you can manage to stick it out just a little bit, and work hard (like you've never worked before)-- the rewards are so worth it.
